Ultimate Redskins Draft I

by Draftpoop

This is my first post season mock draft. In this draft I have one trade with the Ravens which I sent the Skins 4th round and got in return a 4th and a 5th round picks. Team needs: DL, ILB, S, WR, RB, G

1. Redskins: Vita Vea DT Washington

Round 1 The Redskins select DT Vita Vea 6-5, 340 lbs. from Washington. Vea is a monster in the middle of any defense he is a part of. He is damn near imposable to move backwards. He moves extremely well for his size, reacts quickly, has excellent bull rush and uses he hands like an all pro should. He will help solidify the Redskins front seven. No one will want to run on him!

2. Redskins: Christian Kirk WR Texas A&M

Round 2 The Redskins select WR Christian Kirk 5-11, 200 lbs. from Texas A&M. Kirk will give the Redskins the deep threat they missed all last season. With sub 4.4 speed he will give the Skins the ability to stretch defenses giving the run game room to work. Kirk is also a very dangerous open field runner that can take it to the house on every play. Excellent punt returner.

3. Redskins: Bo Scarbrough RB Alabama

{{{PLAYER NOT LISTED}}} Round 4 The Redskins select Kalen Ballage 6-3, 230 lbs from Arizona St. Ballage is my sleeper pick in this years draft. The Redskins can use him as a three down starter. Excellent between the tackles runner with a good mix of speed and power. He could be the running back the Skins thought they were getting when they drafted Matt Jones a couple of years back minus the fumbles. He is a pretty good blocker with very good pass catching ability. In any other year he would easily be a 3rd round pick.

4. Redskins: Jordan Griffin ILB Vanderbilt

{{{PLAYER NOT LISTED}}} ROUND 5 The Redskins select ILB Josey Jewell 6-2, 236 from Iowa. Jewell is a natural inside linebacker who is able to shed off would be blockers to make key tackles. The Iowa defensive team captain has good coverage skills able to line up with TE's and follow RB's out of the back field. He probably will not light up charts at the NFL Combine but he will attract teams with his instincts and leadership among other unmeasurables.

5. Redskins: Justin Reid S Stanford

Round 5 The Redskins select S Justin Reid 6-1, 204 lbs. from Stanford. Reid is a very versatile safety. Some NFL scouts have him listed as a 1st round talent but then again I've also seen him as low as a 6th pick on other draft sites. On this site I was able to pick him here. I would consider this the steal of this draft if they do. I could also see the Skins going CB with this pick. The Redskins can use depth in the secondary as a whole. I figure the Skins will add a veteran CB in FA.

6. Redskins: Wyatt Teller OG Virginia Tech

Round 6 The Redskins select G Wyatt Teller 6-4, 311 lbs. from Va. Tech. Teller is a solid run and pass blocker that almost never gave up a sack. Considered to have a mean streak he is able to play both power and zone, he can pull pretty well and get to second level blocks. Hasn't played G very long, needs to work on footwork and needs to know what to do in space. Has a solid anchor and uses his length well but needs to sharpen his punch. Has the ability to become a solid starter down the road after a bit of coaching up.

7. Redskins: Riley Ferguson QB Tennessee

{{{PLAYER NOT LISTED}}} Round 7 The Redskins select QB Nic Shimonek 6-3, 225 lbs. from Texas Tech. Shimonek had a solid East West Shrine game showing his good arm strength and enough athletic ability to extend plays. Has the physical gifts a team would like to develop. Should be able to hide him on the practice squad for his first season.

8. Redskins: Darren Carrington WR Oregon

{{{PLAYER NOT LISTED}}} Round 7 The Redskins select WR Daurice Fountain 6-2, 210 lbs. from Northern Iowa. Fountain is another stand out player from the East West Shrine game. He got to show off a very impressive skill set with speed, leaping ability and route running. Allowing him a year or so on an NFL practice squad will help polish up his game. excellent physical traits.
